6 ideas for throwing a kids birthday party at HOME in Los Angeles | Companies that bring the party to YOU!

It's party time! 

Why not have it in the backyard this year?  But wait...entertaining all these kids...sounds terrifying...what is a parent to do!?!  Well you're in luck, there are companies in and around LA specifically created for your backyard party needs.  I've photographed quite a few parties in my time and these are my top 6 picks for entertaining your little ones:

1. Bob Baker Marionette Theater

Ok, I just found out that they do house calls and I can’t contain my excitement! Puppetry is true artistry, an art form both young and old can enjoy. The birthday kid is offered a crown from the puppeteer (plus a special gift at the end) and the show commences! The puppets frolic about in their playful and joyous way, sometimes falling into a child’s lap with a burst of giggles. Adults - you aren’t safe from the puppets either! It’s really quite a delightful experience and one I highly recommended.

2. Little Horse On the Prairie

This is the most magical and well designed traveling farm experience that I’ve ever seen. They come to your home to set up the dreamiest little pen for you and your guests to enjoy. You can have a visit from Fable the alpaca, Willow the miniature horse, the adorable Miss Jemima Puddle Duck (who will jump in the pool with you if it’s a summer party!), and so many more sweet little creatures. They are all incredibly friendly, gentle, and very engaging for the kiddos and adults.

3. Jedi Training | Character Masters

I was totally blown away by this party experience!! A Jedi master arrives to take the kids through an engaging lightsaber training course - when this is over the music darkens and in comes….a Star Wars villain of your choosing! (watching Darth Vader enter gave me major chills) The kids face off against the villain with their new skills and save the day of course. As danger recedes, the kids move on to less bone chilling pursuits like building lightsabers and face painting (with Princess Leia!). I highly recommend this company, the acting was brilliant and it’s an experience the party goers won’t soon forget.

4. Bubblemania

Everyone likes bubbles.  EVERYONE I tell ya.  I've seen this company at a few backyard birthdays and it really is entertainment for all ages!  Even the adults look mesmerized (yes, me included).  It starts off with a structured bubble show and ends with party guests taking turns to be inside giant life size bubbles!  Also, bubbles make for fantastic pictures, a big plus for this photographer lady.

5. The Beat Buds

Singing, dancing, and drumming…oh my! These guys put on about an hour long show and give the kids lots of different instruments to play with and fun and engaging songs to sing. They even bring out one of those big rainbow parachutes to play with (perfect for pictures too!). Choose these musical fellows if you’re looking for a rockin’ good time.

6. Mr. Silly & Secret Agent | CelebratioN Entertainment

Mr. Silly REALLY knows how to make kids laugh.  They are completely engaged from start to finish - that is a superpower.  The company Celebration Entertainment has some great entertainers, I've also seen Travis in action as a "Secret Agent" -> He led the kids on a  fun filled scavenger hunt to solve the mystery of the missing goodie bags, I couldn't keep a smile off my face.
